TRACK & FIELD SECTIONAL PRODUCES MANY STATE QUALIFIERS

Cass Midway took a bus full of track & field athletes to the MSHSAA Class 1 Section 2 state qualifying meet Saturday, May 16. The Sectional Meet was contested at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Springfield.


There will be lots of purple in Jefferson City this weekend as Midway qualified in thirteen girls' events and eight boys' events for the state championships. The top four individual and relay place finishers at the sectional meet advance to the state championships.


Shelby Garrigus won the girls' long jump with a leap of 15' 9 ¼", and Shelby was the triple jump champion with a first place mark of 33' 9 ½". Shannon Carver placed first in the shot put with a mark of 33' 9".


Justin Beshore was first in the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 41.7 seconds.


Mackenzie Weis was second in the girls' 3200 meter run in a time of 12:08.3. Shannon Carver was second in the pole vault by clearing 8' 6".


The Lady Vikes' 4x100 meter relay team of Bree Renner, Shannon Carver, Lesli Wright, and Shelby Garrigus ran a second place time of 57.1 seconds. The 4x800 meter relay team of Kelsey Weis, Mackenzie Weis, Josie Riggs, and Kayla Robinson ran a second place time of 10:41.6.


Justin Beshore was second in the boys' 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 16.9 seconds. Zach Goddard was second in the triple jump with a leap of 38' 2 ¾".


The Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Zach Goddard, and Clint Hayes ran a second place time of 1:36.6.


Hannah Mills ran a third place time of 1:05.6 in the girls' 400 meter dash, and Hannah had a third place mark of 31' 10 ½" in the triple jump.  Kayla Robinson was third in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:38.5. Mackenzie Weis ran a third place time of 5:41.9 in the 1600 meter run.


The Lady Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of Shelby Garrigus, Shannon Carver, Bree Renner, and Kayla Robinson ran a third place time of 1:59.3. The 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla Robinson, Lesli Wright, Bree Renner, and Hannah Mills ran a third place time of 4:38.9.


Sam Riggs cleared 11' 6" to place third in the boys' pole vault.


The Vikings' 4x400 meter relay team of Clint Hayes, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Justin Beshore ran a third place time of 3:42.4. The 4x800 meter relay team of Tyler Machal, Paul Stark, Bryan Fregeau, and Clint Hayes ran a third place time of 9:09.7.


Bree Renner placed fourth in the girls' high jump by clearing 4' 8".


Paul Stark was fourth in the boys' 3200 meter run in a time of 11:19.2.


Hannah Mills was fifth in the girls' high jump by clearing 4' 8". Kelsey Weis ran a fifth place time of 2:41.6 in the 800 meter run. Josie Riggs cleared 7' 0" to place fifth in the pole vault.


Bryan Fregeau ran a fifth place time of 2:20.0 in the boys' 800 meter run. Tyler Machal was fifth in the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:10.2. Christopher Zoog clocked a fifth place time of 11:26.7 in the 3200 meter run. Clint Hayes ran a fifth place time of 44.9 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.


The Vikings' 4x100 meter relay team of Dylan Beshore, Taylor Ayres, Zach Goddard, and Adrian Carder ran a fifth place time of 48.6 seconds.


Tyler Yahnig was sixth in the boys' pole vault by clearing 9' 0". Dylan Beshore had a sixth place mark of 17' 7 ½" in the long jump.


Victoria Bynum was seventh in the girls' 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 18.9 seconds.


Zach Goddard had a seventh place mark of 17' 5" in the boys' long jump.


The MSHSAA Class 1 & 2 State Championship meet will be held at Dwight T. Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City May 22 and May 23.
