BARSTOW INVITE: NUMBER 6 FOR LADY VIKES

The Cass Midway cross country contingent ventured into Kansas City to participate in the Barstow Invitational on Tuesday, October 6.


Midway won the girls' varsity team title with a score of 33. Barstow was second with a score of 40, and Holden was third with a score of 44. This was the Lady Vikes' sixth win as a team in six meets this year.


Mackenzie Weis won her sixth individual championship of 2009 blistering the 5000 meter course on the Barstow School campus in a first place time of 19:45.


Kayla Robinson was sixth in a time of 22:20. Sabrina Willey was seventh in a time of 22:30, and Josie Riggs ran a ninth place time of 22:49.


Victoria Bynum was sixteenth in a time of 23:58. Caitlin Chaffin ran a nineteenth place time of 24:59. Leigh Anne Stark was twenty-fourth in a time of 26:18.


In the girls' JV race Allie Hayes placed first in the 5000 meter race in a time of 26:37. Zoe Eberle was second in a time of 28:55.


Midway's boys all ran in the 5000 meter JV race.


Roy Spurgeon was seventh in a time of 22:25. Paden Forester was eighth in a time of 22:54. Justin Fielder was eleventh in a time of 23:21.


Cameron Willey raced to a twelfth place time of 23:48. Bailey Scholl was thirteenth in a time of 25:14. Hank Chrisman was fourteenth in a time of 25:24.


"We're starting to see progress toward some of our goals," said Midway head coach Doug Carder. "District and state are less than a month away. This is an exciting time."


The Vikes and Lady Vikes go to the Jayhawk-Linn Invitational (Mound City, KS) on October 8. The meet will be contested on the Sugar Valley Lake Golf Course located one mile south of Mound City on highway 7. Turn east at the Sugar Valley Lake sign.
