Midway traveled to Rich Hill on Thursday, October 15 for an evening of Western Missouri Conference volleyball action. Only the varsity Lady Vikings came home victorious.
Rich Hill defeated Midway 25-20 to take game one of the varsity match. Midway rallied to take game two from the Lady Tigers 25-15. The third game was close, but the Lady Vikes topped Rich Hill 25-22 to win the match two games to one game.
Shannon Carver had 11 kills and 2 blocks vs. the Lady Tigers. Teresa Zielinski had 8 kills. Hannah Mills had 4 kills and ½ block. Janae Semsch and Madison Turner each had 4 kills. Jennifer Gorsage had 1 kill and 1 ½ blocks.
Katie Chouinard had 10 assists. Tesa Renner had 7 assists. Madison Turner had 5 assists. Jennifer Gorsage had 2 assists. Shannon Carver and Cady Wright each had 1 assist.
Shannon Carver and Katie Chouinard each served 2 aces. Teresa Zielinski and Madison Turner each served 1 ace.
The Lady Vikes got 8 digs from Shannon Carver, 7 digs from Teresa Zielinski, and 5 digs from Cady Wright. Janae Semsch, Tesa Renner, Katie Chouinard, and Madison Turner each made 3 digs.
Rich Hill defeated Midway 25-4 and 25-10 in the JV match.
Kathleen Yoakum had 1 kill and 1 dig. Gabby Smith had 5 digs. Paige Kurzweil had 2 digs. Cathleen DeRemer and Shelby Admire each had 1 dig.
Midway defeated Rich Hill 25-7 in the first game of the junior high match, but Rich Hill won game two 25-12. The third game was close, but the JH Lady Tigers defeated the JH Lady Vikings 25-21. Jessica Owens and Raelynn Goddard each served 2 aces.
Saturday, October 17 the varsity Lady Vikes will join the rest of the schools in the Western Missouri Conference for the league tournament at Archie. The Lady Vikes will face Appleton City at 9:00 AM in Archie's west gym. Midway is the fifth seed in the tournament.
The JV and varsity Lady Vikes conclude the regular season with a pair of home matches next week against Hogan Prep (October 20) and Pembroke Hill (October 22).
Admission to the Pembroke Hill match is FREE. Midway is asking for can goods for the local food pantry in lieu of an admission fee.
