VOLLEY-VIKES COME UP SHORT @ DISTRICT

Midway's Lady Vikes and Archie's Lady Winds faced each other in the MSHSAA Class 1 District Volleyball Tournament championship match on Wednesday, October 28. The match was played at Archie.
The Lady Vikes edged the Lady Winds 25-21 in the first game of the match. Archie was all over Midway 25-8 in the second game of the match to knot things at one game apiece. The third game of the match was a tight one, but when the dust had settled Archie had won the game 25-22, making the Lady Winds district champions.
Shannon Carver served 5 aces, hammered 5 kills, made 1 block, and totaled 5 digs in her final match as a Lady Viking. Katie Chouinard had 3 assists, 3 kills, and 4 digs in her senior finale.
Teresa Zielinski had 5 kills, made 1 block, and scrambled for 9 digs in her senior swan song. Janae Semsch smacked 5 kills and made 1 dig in her career ending contest.
Jennifer Gorsage served 2 aces at the Lady Winds, and she had 1 assist. Tesa Renner had 7 assists. Madison Turner had 2 assists.
Hannah Mills, Madison Turner, and Jennifer Gorsage each had 1 kill.
Madison Turner made 6 digs. Cady Wright made 3 digs, and Tesa Renner made 1 dig.
The Lady Vikings finished the 2009 season with a record of 12 wins, 14 losses, and 3 ties.
