MONDAY NIGHT BASKETBALL

Monday, December 8, was a busy night for many of the Midway basketball teams. The JH girls, JH boys, and JV girls all played at home against Archie. The "C" boys played a first round game in the Adrian Freshmen Tournament against Butler.

The JH Lady Vikings led Archie 12-0 at the end of the first quarter of the "A" game. At the half, the score was Midway 18 and JH "A" Lady Whirlwinds 8. The third quarter ended with the score Midway 29 and Archie 16. The JH "A" Lady Vikes defeated the JH "A" Lady Whirlwinds by a final score of 40-26.

Kathleen Yoakum scored a team high 17 points for the JH "A" Lady Vikes. Cady Wright had 9 points, and Mady Berkenpas netted 6 points. Kateri Yoakum and Payton Mincks each scored 4 points.

Archie defeated Midway 20-8 in the JH "B" girls' game. Laura Casaert scored 4 points. Destinee Sanchez and Maranda Bray each scored 2 points.

Midway led Archie 8-4 at the end of the first quarter of the JH boys' "A" game, but by halftime, the score was JH "A" Whirlwinds 14 and JH "A" Vikings 12. Archie held a 22-20 lead over Midway after three quarters of play. The final score was JH "A" Whirlwinds 25 and JH "A" Vikings 22.

Peyton Semsch had a team high 10 points for the JH "A" Vikings. Bobby Zielinski scored 7 points. Kyle McLellan and Christian Carl each scored 2 points. Dylan Wise chipped in 1 point.

Midway defeated Archie 27-10 in the JH "B" boys' game. Nate Fischer scored 14 points. Tyler Greer scored 4 points. Lee Smith, Mitchell Southard, Nick Sparks and Logan Mabary each scored 2 points. Mason Irvin added 1 point.

Archie led Midway 7-6 at the end of the first quarter of the JV girls' game. The halftime score was Archie 17 and Midway 8. Archie held a 23-17 lead on Midway at the end of the third quarter. The JV Lady Vikes rallied late, but the JV Lady Winds won the game 35-31.

Jennifer Gorsage and Tesa Renner each scored 7 points. Michaela Hinkle scored 6 points. Josie Riggs tallied 4 points. Shelby Jurgeson, Alyson Chapman, and Hannah Mills each scored 2 points. Leigh Anne Stark scored 1 point.

The "C" Vikes were defeated by Butler 43-19 in the first round of the Adrian Freshmen Tournament. Zach Crumpley scored 7 points. Adrian Carder and Kyle Bayard each scored 3 points. Tyler Willms and Tyler Yahnig each scored 2 points. Paul Stark and Tyler Machal each scored 1 point.

The JH girls, JH boys, and JV girls will play at home against Adrian on Thursday, December 11. There will be "B" games vs. Adrian Junior High. The "C" boys play a second round game at the Adrian Freshmen Tournament on Thursday at 5:45 PM.
