LOTS OF GAMES; ONE OPPONENT: ADRIAN

Midway's JH girls, JH boys, and JV girls all played home basketball games against Adrian on Thursday, December 11. While all of these squads were playing at home, the Midway High School "C" boys were playing Adrian at Adrian in a consolation semifinal game of the Adrian Freshmen Tournament.

The JH "A" Lady Vikings led Adrian 8-5 after one quarter of play, but by the half, the JH "A" Lady Blackhawks had tied Midway 11-11. The JH "A" Lady Vikings had surged ahead of the JH "A" Lady Blackhawks 26-17 by the end of the third quarter. The final score was Midway 42 and Adrian 19.

Cady Wright and Kateri Yoakum each scored 14 points for the JH "A" Lady Vikes. Miranda Dahman and Payton Mincks each scored 6 points. Kathleen Yoakum added 2 points.

Midway defeated Adrian 16-11 in the JH girls' "B" game. Jessie Owens, Laura Casaert, and Maranda Bray each scored 4 points. Kasey Roberson and Destinee Sanchez each scored 2 points.

Adrian led Midway 12-7 at the end of the first quarter of the JH boys' "A" game. The halftime score was JH "A" Blackhawks 18 and JH "A" Vikings 17. Adrian led Midway 36-31 at the end of the third quarter. The final score was JH "A" Blackhawks 49 and JH "A" Vikings 43.

Bobby Zielinski and Peyton Semsch each scored 12 points. Kyle McLellan and Dylan Wise each scored 8 points. Christian Cromer scored 2 points, and Anthony Hawkins scored 1 point.

The score of the JH boys' "B" game was Midway 31 and Adrian 12. Nick Sparks scored 8 points. Mason Irvin and Nate Fischer each scored 6 points. Bailey Scholl, Trevor Thompson, Lane West, and Alex Schnorf each scored 2 points.

Adrian led Midway 9-8 at the end of the first quarter of the JV girls' game. The halftime score was JV Lady Blackhawks 15 and JV Lady Vikes 10. Adrian held a 22-16 lead over Midway at the end of the third quarter. The final score was JV Lady Blackhawks 31 and JV Lady Vikings 26.

Hannah Mills scored a team high 10 points for the JV Lady Vikings. Josie Riggs scored 7 points. Jessica Conklin tallied 6 points, and Leigh Anne Stark tossed in 3 points.

The "C" Vikes were defeated by Adrian 50-18 in the consolation round of the Adrian Freshmen Tournament. Tyler Yahnig, Zach Crumpley, Paul Stark, and Collin Kalberloh each scored 4 points for the "C" Vikings. Adrian Carder added 2 points.

The JH girls and JH boys will play opening round games in the WEMO JH Tournament at Drexel on Monday, December 15. The JH Lady Vikes face Osceola at 7:00 PM. The JH Vikings face Adrian at 8:15 PM. Both games will be played in the North gym.

The "C" boys play Archie in the seventh place game at the Adrian Freshmen Tournament on Saturday, December 12 at noon. The JV Lady Vikes will play their next game at Prairie View (LaCygne, KS) on Tuesday, December 16 at 5:00 PM.
