TRACK and FIELD GETS '09 SEASON STARTED

Cass Midway's varsity track & field teams got the 2009 season started by participating in the Central Heights Invitational, Friday, April 3, at Richmond, Kansas. Midway\'s scheduled opening meet at North Platte was postponed last week due to the wintry weather.


Jayhawk-Linn won both the boys' and girl's divisions of the Central Heights Invitational. Cass Midway was fourth in the girls' division with 72 points. The Vikings placed fifth in the boys' division with 54 points. Twelve schools participated in the meet.


Justin Beshore won the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 43.7 seconds.


Hannah Mills leaped to a second place finish in the girls' long jump with a mark of 14' 5 ¼". Hannah also placed second in the triple jump with a 30' ¾" effort. Shannon Carver was second in the pole vault by clearing 9' 6".


Kelsey Weis ran a second place time of 2:49.0 in the girls' 800 meter run. Mackenzie Weis ran a second place time of 13:30.0 in the 3200 meter run.


Sam Riggs cleared 12' 0" to place second in the boys' pole vault. Justin Beshore ran a second place time of 16.6 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles.


The Vikings\' 4x100 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Clint Hayes ran a second place time of 48.0 seconds.


Shannon Carver had a third place finish in the girls' shot put event with a mark of 34' 9 ¾". Kayla Robinson ran a third place time of 6:15.0 in the 1600 meter run.


The Lady Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Kelsey Weis, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Mackenzie Weis placed third in a time of 11:24.0.


Zach Goddard had a third place mark of 38\' 7 ¾" in the boys\' triple jump.

Jennifer Gorsage placed fourth in the girls\' discus with a toss of 72\' 2 ¾".


The Vikings' 4x400 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Clint Hayes ran a third place time of 3:52.0.


Kayla Robinson ran a fourth place time of 2:53.0 in the girls' 800 meter run.


Tyler Willms clocked a fifth place time of 20.1 seconds in the boys' 110 meter high hurdles. Clint Hayes ran a fifth place time of 47.3 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Bryan Fregeau was fifth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:25.0.


Cathleen DeRemer had a sixth place mark of 71' 8" in the girls' discus. Josie Riggs ran a sixth place time of 6:36.0 in the 1600 meter run.


Adrian Carder ran a sixth place time of 21.8 seconds in the boys' 110 meter high hurdles. Clint Hayes ran a sixth place time of 24.8 seconds in the 200 meter dash.


The Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Paul Stark, Tyler Machal, and Dalton Driggs ran a sixth place time of 9:59.9.


Midway is scheduled to host home meets on April 7 and April 9. Next week Midway travels to Odessa on Tuesday, April 14, to participate in the Wellington-Napoleon Invitational.
