CASS MIDWAY TRACK & FIELD INVITE

The Twelfth Annual Cass Midway High School Track & Field Invitational was held on Tuesday, April 17. Fifteen schools were represented at this showcase of athletic prowess.


St. Mary's won the girls' team title with 129 points. Cass Midway was second with 123 1/3 points. Holden was third with 115 1/3 points.


Hogan Prep won the boys' team title with 105 ½ points. St. Mary's placed second with 105 points. Appleton City was third with 79 points. Cass Midway was seventh with 48 points.


Cass Midway had several fine performances in the meet.


Shelby Garrigus and Shannon Carver were both double gold winners for the Lady Vikings. Shelby won the long jump with a mark of 14' 8", and she claimed first place in the triple jump with a leap of 32' 5". Shannon topped the field in the pole vault by clearing 9' 6". And Shannon was the shot put champion with a mark of 30' 11 ¼".


Justin Beshore broke the meet record in the boys' 300 meter intermediate by with a winning time of 42.07 seconds.


Bree Renner tied for second place in the girls' high jump by clearing 4' 6".


The Lady Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Kelsey Weis, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Mackenzie Weis ran a second place time of 11:09.42. The Lady Vikes placed second in the 4x200 meter thrower's relay. The quartet of Jenny King, Tesa Renner, Shannon Carver, and Bree Renner clocked a time of 2:14.06.


Kelsey Weis ran a third place time of 2:51.36 in the girls' 800 meter run. MacKenzie Weis was third in the 1600 meter run in a time of 6:10.29, and Mackenzie came back to place third in the 3200 meter run in a time of 13:02.15.


Sam Riggs cleared 11' 6" to place third in the boys' pole vault. Justin Beshore had a third place time of 17.41 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles.


Tesa Renner was fourth in the girls' discus with a mark of 74' 4 ½". Hannah Mills was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 28' 5 ½".


The Lady Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Lesli Wright, Hannah Mills, Josie Riggs, and Kayla Robinson ran a fourth place time of 4:47.83.


Alyson Chapman ran a fifth place time of 1:14.91 in the girls' 400 meter dash. Victoria Bynum was fifth in the 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 20.47 seconds. Josie Riggs and Mackenzie Weis tied for fifth in the pole vault as each girl cleared 6' 6".


Paul Stark ran a fifth place time of 12:01.00 in the boys' 3200 meter run. Zach Goddard had a fifth place mark of 36' 6 ½" in the triple jump.


The Viking 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Clint Hayes ran a fifth place time of 1:41.31. Midway's 4x200 meter thrower's relay team of Michael Lading, Blake Guier, Christian Carl, and Garrett James ran a fifth place time of 2:02.25.


Leigh Anne Stark was sixth in the girls' 400 meter dash in a time of 1:14.92. Victoria Bynum ran a sixth place time of 59.21 seconds in the 300 meter low hurdles. Hannah Mills was sixth in the high jump clearing 4' 6".


The Vikings' 4x400 meter relay team of Clint Hayes, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Justin Beshore ran a sixth place time of 3:53.72.


Shelby Jurgeson was seventh in the 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 21.14 seconds.


Clint Hayes ran a seventh place time of 46.83 seconds in the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles.


The Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Paul Stark, Tyler Machal, and Dalton Driggs ran a seventh place time of 9:50.65.


Shelby Garrigus was eighth in the girls' 200 meter dash in a time of 30.27 seconds.


The Lady Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of  Shelby Garrigus, Bree Renner, Kelsey Weis, and Kayla Robinson ran an eighth place time of 2:06.02.


Zach Goddard was eighth in the boys' long jump with a mark of 17' 8 ¼". Christian Carl was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 36' 5 ¾". Tyler Yahnig cleared 9' 0" to place eighth in the pole vault.


Weather permitting; the Vikes and Lady Vikes will be back in action at home at the Cass Midway Combo Meet on Thursday, April 9. Action gets underway at 3:30 PM.
