HS COMBO MEET RESULTS

The Vikes and Lady Vikes track & field teams were back home for action in the Cass Midway Combo Meet on Thursday, April 9. Ten schools participated in the meet. Weather conditions were cold and windy. Rain forced the meet to conclude following the 400 meter dash.


Cass Midway edged Adrian for the girls' team title. The Lady Vikings had a team score of 132 points. The Lady Blackhawks had a team score of 131 points. Windsor was third with a team score of 53 points.


Adrian took the boys' team title with a score of 89 points. Cass Midway was second with a team score of 78 points. Appleton City was third with a team score of 72 points.


Shelby Garrigus gave Midway a pair of gold medal efforts. Shelby won the long jump with a mark of 14' 3", and she leaped to a first place mark of 32' 5 ½" in the triple jump. Shannon Carver won the weather plagued pole vault event by clearing 7' 0". Bree Renner was first in the high jump by clearing 4' 8".


Mackenzie Weis won the girls' 1600 meter run in a time of 6:20.68. The Lady Vikes' 4x800 of Mackenzie Weis, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Kelsey Weis ran a first place time of 11:55.47.


Justin Beshore gave the Vikings a sweep of the boys' hurdle events. Justin raced to a winning time of 16.85 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles. He won the 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 43.64 seconds. Sam Riggs battled a strong cross wind to clear 10' 6" and claimed first place in the pole vault.


Shannon Carver was second in the girls' shot put event with a mark of 29' 7 ¾". Josie Riggs was second in the pole vault clearing 6' 6". Hannah Mills ran a second place time of 1:12.16 in the 400 meter dash.


Christian Carl was second in the boys' discus with a toss of 100' 11". The Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Clint Hayes clocked a second place time of 1:42.85.


Hannah Mills was third in the girls' triple jump with a mark of 28' 11 ½". Jennifer Gorsage was third in the discus with a 75' 10" effort.


Midway had three third place finishes in girls' relay races. The Lady Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of Bree Renner, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Shelby Garrigus ran a third place time of 2:13.43. 


The quartet of Anisa Scott, Lesli Wright, Alyson Chapman, and Shelby Jurgeson ran a third place time of 1:04.33 in the 4x100 meter relay. The Lady Vikes "B" 4x800 meter relay team of Leigh Anne Stark, Victoria Bynum, Lesli Wright, and Shelby Jurgeson ran a third place time of 13:23.48.


Zach Goddard placed third in the boys' triple jump with a leap of 37' 7", and he had a third place mark of 17' 9 ½" in the long jump. Tyler Yahnig cleared 8' 0" to place third in the pole vault.


Mackenzie Weis cleared 5' 6" to tie for fourth in the girls' pole vault. Hannah Mills cleared 4' 4" to place fourth in the high jump. Victoria Bynum ran a fourth place time of 1:02.31 in the 300 meter low hurdles, and Shelby Jurgeson ran a fourth place time of 21.67 seconds in the 100 meter high hurdles.


The Lady Vikes' "B" 4x200 meter relay team of Callie Mincks, Tesa Renner, Jennifer Gorsage, and Cathleen DeRemer ran a fourth place time of 2:26.09.


Clint Hayes ran a fourth place time of 45.93 seconds in the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Collin Kalberloh was fourth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:02.28.


Shelby Jurgeson ran a fifth place time of 1:02.47 in the girls' 300 meter low hurdles. Cathleen DeRemer was fifth in the discus with a 70' 4 ½" effort. Hannah Mills was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 13' 2".


The Lady Vikes' "B" 4x100 meter relay team of Callie Mincks, Tesa Renner, Danielle Ackermann, and Cathleen DeRemer ran a fifth place time of 1:10.00.


Dylan Beshore ran a fifth place time of 12.18 seconds in the boys' 100 meter dash. The Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Dalton Driggs, Tyler Machal, and Paul Stark ran a fifth place time of 10:14.00.


Jenny King was sixth in the girls' discus with a mark of 69' 6 ½". Leigh Anne Stark ran a sixth place time of 1:20.25 in the 400 meter dash. Danielle Ackermann ran a sixth place time of 9:24.47 in the 1600 meter run.


Tyler Machal ran a sixth place time of 5:32.16 in the boys' 1600 meter run. Christian Carl had a sixth place mark of 34' 9 ¼" in the shot put.


Cass Midway is scheduled to participate in the Wellington-Napoleon Invitational on Tuesday, April 14. The meet will be contested at Odessa High School.
