Cass Midway's Vikings and Lady Vikes performed well at the Wellington-Napoleon Track & Field Invitational on Tuesday, April 14. The meet was contested at Odessa High School. Twelve teams participated in the meet.
The Lady Vikings won the girls' division with 125 points. Slater was second with 97 points, and Crest Ridge was third with 84 points.
Santa Fe won the boys' team title with 108 points. Wellington-Napoleon was second with 97 points, and Cass Midway was third with 77 ½ points.
Mackenzie Weis won both of the girls' long distance races. Mackenzie ran a first place time of 5:49 to capture the 1600 meter run, and she clocked a first place time of 12:43.32 to win the 3200 meter run. Shelby Garrigus leaped 35' 2" to win the triple jump.
Justin Beshore won the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 42.31 seconds.
Shelby Garrigus was second in the girls' long jump with a mark of 14' 11". Hannah Mills cleared 4' 8" to place second in the high jump. Kelsey Weis ran a second place time of 2:39.47 in the 800 meter run, and Victoria Bynum was second in the 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 20.00 seconds.
The Lady Vikes' 4x800 meter relay team of Mackenzie Weis, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Kelsey Weis ran a second place time of 11:00.81.
Zach Goddard had a second place finish in the boys' triple jump with a mark of 39' 7".
Shelby Jurgeson was third in the girls' 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 20.94 seconds. Hannah Mills had a third place time of 1:05.62 in the 400 meter dash. Shannon Carver was third in the shot put event with a mark of 29' 10", and Bree Renner cleared 4' 6" to place third in the high jump.
Midway's 4x200 meter quartet of Kayla Robinson, Bree Renner, Josie Riggs, and Shelby Garrigus ran a third place time of 2:01.59.
Justin Beshore ran a third place time of 17.21 seconds in the boys' 110 meter high hurdles. Clint Hayes clocked a third place time of 24.10 in the 200 meter dash.
The Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs. Taylor Ayres and Clint Hayes ran a third place time of 1:39.50.
Zach Goddard had a fourth place mark of 18' 8" in the boys' long jump. Clint Hayes had a fourth place time of 44.15 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Bryan Fregeau raced to a fourth place time of 2:17.91 in the 800 meter run, and Paul Stark was fourth in the 3200 meter run in a time of 11:48.34.
The Vikings' 4x400 meter relay team of Clint Hayes, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Justin Beshore ran a fourth place time of 3:47.97. The 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Paul Stark, Tyler Machal, and Dalton Driggs ran a fourth place time of 9:42.59.
Josie Riggs clocked a fifth place time of 2:46.13 in the girls' 800 meter run.
The Lady Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla Robinson, Bree Renner, Lesli Wright, and Shelby Garrigus ran a fifth place time of 4:54.32.
Tyler Machal was fifth in the boys' 1600 meter run in a time of 5:18.82.
The Vikings' 4x100 meter relay team of Dylan Beshore, Bryan Fregeau, Taylor Ayres, and Adrian Carder ran a fifth place time of 49.91 seconds.
Victoria Bynum clocked a sixth place time of 1:00.30 in the girls' 300 meter low hurdles.
The Lady Vikes' 4x100 meter relay team of Anissa Scott, Lesli Wright, Alyson Chapman, and Josie Riggs ran a sixth place time of 59.47 seconds.
Christian Carl had a sixth place mark of 38' 6" in the boys' shot put. Taylor Ayres placed sixth in the high jump by clearing 5' 2".
Leigh Anne Stark ran a seventh place time of 14:51.53 in the girls' 3200 meter run. Jenny King had a seventh place mark of 25' 3" in the shot put. Cathleen DeRemer was seventh in the discus with a mark of 73' 5", and Hannah Mills jumped 30' 8" to place seventh in the triple jump.
Christopher Zoog was seventh in the boys' 3200 meter run in a time of 12:26.93.
Jennifer Gorsage was eighth in the girls' discus with a toss of 68' 9". Leigh Anne Stark ran 1:10.50 to place eighth in the girls' 400 meter dash. Shelby Jurgeson ran an eighth place time of 1:02.31 in the 300 meter low hurdles.
Christian Carl was eighth in the boys' discus with a mark of 104' 5".
