18th ANNUAL JH INVITATIONAL

The weather cooperated and Cass Midway's junior high track & field teams were able to host the Eighteenth Annual Midway Junior High Invitational on Wednesday, April 15. Fourteen teams participated in the meet.


Cass Midway won the girls' division with a team score of 129 points. Orrick was second with 101 points. Butler was third with 75 points.


Higginsville took the boys' team title with 90 points. Drexel was second with 82 ½ points, and Cass Midway was third with 80 ½ points.


Cady Wright broke the girls' meet record in 75 meter hurdle record with a winning time of 12.96 seconds. She also broke the meet record in the 400 meter dash in a first place time of 1:06.44.


Miranda Dahman won the girls' triple jump with a mark of 27' 6". Zoe Eberle cleared 4' 6" to win the high jump. Katherine Yoakum ran a first place time of 13.76 seconds in the 100 meter dash, and Jessica Owens ran a first place time of 6:15.84 in the 1600 meter run.


The JH "A" Lady Vikings 4x400 meter relay team of Katherine Yoakum, Allie Hayes, Miranda Dahman, and Cady Wright ran a new meet record and first place time of 4:47.08.


Peyton Semsch won the boys' pole vault by clearing 7' 6", and Peyton won the 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 17.42 seconds. Bobby Zielinski won the high jump by clearing 5' 6".


Mady Berkenpas was second in the girls' 75 meter hurdles in a time of 14.19 seconds. Miranda Dahman ran a second place time of 2:55.84 in the 800 meter run. Katherine Yoakum was second in the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.43 seconds.


Bobby Zielinski was second in the boys' 1600 meter run in a time of 5:12.00, and Bobby ran a second place time of 26.07 seconds in the 200 meter dash.


Gabby Smith had a third place mark of 64' 7" in the girls' discus. Cady Wright cleared 6' 0" to place third in the pole vault. Shayla Madden had a third place mark of 26' 8 ½" in the triple jump.


Derald Jayson was third in the boys' pole vault by clearing 6' 6".


The JH Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Dylan Wise, Shane White, Peyton Semsch, and Derald Jayson ran a third place time of 1:54.32.


Payton Mincks ran a fourth place time of 14.38 seconds in the girls' 75 meter hurdles. Allie Hayes ran a fourth place time of 14.28 seconds in the 100 meter dash.


The JH Lady Vikings' 4x100 meter relay team of Jessica Owens, Destiny Sanchez, Zoe Eberle, and Allie Hayes ran a fourth place time of 1:00.00.


Bobby Zielinski had a fourth place mark of 16' 0" in the boys' long jump. Dylan Wise ran a fourth place time of 1:02.16 in the 400 meter dash.


Meghan Everly was fifth in the girls' 75 meter hurdles in a time of 14.87 seconds. Mady Berkenpas was fifth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 14.32 seconds.


Dylan Wise ran a fifth place time of 27.79 seconds in the boys' 200 meter dash.


Jessica Owens had a sixth place mark of 25' 5 ½" in the girls' triple jump. Destiny Sanchez was sixth in the 800 meter run in a time of 3:08.13.


Bailey Scholl was sixth in the boys' pole vault by clearing 5' 0". Derald Jayson ran a sixth place time of 12.93 in the 100 meter dash. Peyton Semsch was sixth in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:03.45 seconds.


Payton Mincks was eighth in the girls' long jump with a mark of 12' 4". Kaitlyn Chaffin ran an eighth place time of 7:29.32 in the 1600 meter run. Miranda Dahman was eighth in the high jump clearing 4' 0".


The JH Lady Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Payton Mincks, Zoe Eberle, Meghan Everly, and Shayla Madden ran an eighth place time of 2:11.45.


Midway's junior high track & field teams will be at home on Monday, April 20, as the Midway R-I School District plays host to the 99th Annual Junior Viking Relays.
