29th ANNUAL JUNIOR VIKING RELAYS

The 29^th Annual Junior Viking Relays were contested on Monday, April 20 at Cass Midway. The home teams made a clean sweep of all three divisions. Fourteen teams participated in the junior high divisions. Five teams participated in the freshmen Coed division.

Midway took the junior high girls' division with 69 points. Butler and Lone Jack tied for second with 60 points apiece. The JH Vikings won the boys' division with 64 points. Butler was second with 61 points, and Drexel was third with 56 points. Midway scored 98 points to win the freshmen Coed division. Adrian was second with 76 points, and St. Mary's was third with 66 points.

Cady Wright, Destiny Sanchez, Payton Mincks, and Jessica Owens combined forces to run a first place time, and new meet record, of 5:00.43 in the girls' 1600 meter medley. The quartet of Jessica Owens, Mady Berkenpas, Allie Hayes, and Cady Wright ran a new meet record in the 4x400 meter relay with a winning time of 4:40.37 

The JH Lady Vikings' shuttle hurdle relay team of Mady Berkenpas, Payton Mincks, Meghan Everly, and Cady Wright ran a first place time of 1:01.16. The pole vault trio of Haley Southard, Cady Wright, and Mady Berkenpas cleared a team total of 16' 6" to place first.

Peyton Semsch, Christopher Bynum, and Bobby Zielinski cleared a team total height of 14' 2" to win the boys' high jump. Derald Jayson, Peyton Semsch, and Bailey Scholl cleared a first place team total height of 21' 0" to win the pole vault.

The Coed shuttle hurdle relay team of Shelby Jurgeson, Paul Stark, Josie Riggs, and Tyler Willms ran a first place time of 1:18.69. The Coed 4x800 meter relay team of Mackenzie Weis, Tyler Machal, Josie Riggs, and Paul Stark ran a winning time of 10:36.76. Midway's Coed long jump team Hannah Mills, Dylan Beshore, Alyson Chapman, and Bryan Fregeau jumped a winning distance of 56' 7 ¼".

Alyson Chapman, Dylan Beshore, Kayla Robinson, and Bryan Fregeau ran a first place time of 54.88 seconds in the Coed 4x100 meter relay. The 4x400 meter relay team of Hannah Mills, Paul Stark, Kayla Robinson, and Bryan Fregeau placed first in a winning time of 4:20.66.

Zoe Eberle, Miranda Dahman, and Mykeillah Dillon cleared a team total of 12' 4" to place second in the girls' high jump. Miranda Dahman, Shayla Madden, Destiny Sanchez, and Kaitlyn Chaffin ran a second place time of 12:28.48 in the 4x800 meter relay.

Levi Drake, Christopher Bynum, Derald Jayson, and Peyton Semsch ran a second place time of 1:18.95 in the boys' shuttle hurdles. The seventh grade 1600 medley team of Mitchell Robinson, Lee Smith, Shane White, and Derald Jayson ran a second place time of 5:15.36.

The Coed shot put team of Jennifer Gorsage, Taylor Ayres, Tesa Renner, and Cameron Didier placed second with a team mark of 98' 7 ¾". The Coed high jump team of Hannah Mills, Taylor Ayres, Jennifer Gorsage, and Dalton Driggs placed second by clearing a total height of 13' 10". The Coed "B" pole vault pair of Mackenzie Weis and Tyler Willms placed second by clearing a total height of 14' 6".

Alyson Chapman, Tyler Willms, Kayla Robinson, and Dylan Beshore ran a second place time of 1:58.23 in the Coed 4x200 meter relay. The Coed 1600 medley team of Alyson Chapman, Dylan Beshore, Shelby Jurgeson, and Dalton Driggs placed second in a time of 4:55.57. The Coed "B" long jump team of Tesa Renner, Paul Stark, Mackenzie Weis, and Tyler Willms jumped a second place team mark of 50' 6".

The JH Lady Vikes\' shot put squad of Destiny Sanchez, Gabby Smith, and Shelby Admire placed third with a team total distance of 71' 7 ¾".

Shane White, Mitchell Southard, Dylan Wise, and Bobby Zielinski ran a third place time of 1:57.03 in the boys' sprint medley. The seventh grade 4x400 meter relay team of Peyton Semsch, Levi Drake, Shane White, and Bobby Zielinski ran a third place time of 4:47.98.

The boys' long jump trio of Bobby Zielinski, Derald Jayson, and Dylan Wise jumped a third place team total distance of 43' 7 ¼".

Jennifer Gorsage, Cameron Didier, Cathleen DeRemer, and Adam Doyle placed third in the Coed discus with a team mark of 241' 6". The Coed "A" pole vault team of Josie Riggs and Tyler Machal cleared a third place team total height of 13' 0".

Megan Everly, Zoe Eberle, Payton Mincks, and Miranda Dahman ran a fourth place time of 2:08.54 in the girls' 4x200 meter relay.

The trio of Joey Beller, Tyler Greer, and Mason Irvin placed fourth in the boys\' shot put event with a team distance of 84' ½", and they place fourth in the team discus event with a total distance of 191' 6".

Cathleen DeRemer, Adam Doyle, Shelby Jurgeson, and Bryan Fregeau ran a fourth place time of 2:05.30 in the Coed sprint medley.

The long jump team of Allie Hayes, Payton Mincks, and Miranda Dahman placed fifth in the girls' long jump with a team total distance of 22' 6 ½".

Levi Drake, Tyler Greer, Mitchell Robinson, and Shane White ran a fifth place time of 1:01.64 in the boys' 4x100 meter relay.

The Coed "B" 4x100 meter relay team of Tesa Renner, Adam Doyle, Cathleen DeRemer, and Dalton Jurgeson ran a fifth place time of 1:01.51. The Coed "B" discus squad of Josie Riggs, Dalton Driggs, Tesa Renner, and Paul Stark had a fifth place team distance of 208\' 8". The Coed "B" shot put squad of Cathleen DeRemer, Adam Doyle, Shelby Jurgeson, and Tyler Machal placed fifth with a team total distance of 81' 3 ¼".

The JH Lady Vikes' sprint medley team of Megan Everly, Mady Berkenpas, Allie Hayes, and Kaitlyn Chaffin ran a sixth place time of 2:25.92.

Midway's junior high teams will compete at the Orrick Invitational on Thursday, April 23. Several of the Midway freshmen will be back in action on Tuesday, April 21, at the Archie Invitational.
