WHIRLWIND INVITATIONAL

The Cass Midway varsity track & field teams made the short trek to Archie on Tuesday, April 21, to participate in the Whirlwind High School Invitational. Fourteen girls' teams and thirteen boys' teams participated in the event.
Midway's Lady Vikings took the girls' team title with 92 points. Holden was second with 85 points, and Lone Jack was third with 79 points.
The boys' team title went to Lone Jack with 97 points. Holden was second with 84 ½ points, and Midway was third with 76 points.
Shelby Garrigus won the girls' triple jump with a mark of 33' 6 ¼", and she came back later in the meet to win the long jump by leaping 33' 6 ¼". Shannon Carver cleared 9' 6" to claim the pole vault title, and Mackenzie Weis was first in the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:40.51.
Justin Beshore won the boys' 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 17.00 seconds, and Justin completed the hurdle double by winning the 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 42.88 seconds. Sam Riggs won the pole vault by clearing 12' 0", and Zach Goddard was the triple jump champion with a leap of 39' 4 ¾".
Shannon Carver had a second place mark of 31' 6 ½" in the girls' shot put event. Hannah Mills ran a second place time of 1:06.09 in the 400 meter dash.
The Lady Vikes' 4x800 meter relay team of Kelsey Weis, Josie Riggs, Kayla Robinson, and Mackenzie Weis ran a second place time of 10:46.16.
Bree Renner placed third in the girls' high jump by clearing 4' 6". Josie Riggs cleared 7' 6" to place third in the pole vault. Mackenzie Weis ran a third place time of 5:46.43 in the 1600 meter run.
Paul Stark ran a third place time of 11:53.21 in the boys' 3200 meter run. Clint Hayes clocked a third place time of 44.25 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
Hannah Mills jumped 28' 10" to place fourth in the girls' triple jump.
Clint Hayes ran a fourth place time of 24.60 seconds in the boys' 200 meter dash. Zach Goddard had a fourth place mark of 18' 2 ½" in the long jump.
The Vikings' 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Sam Riggs, Zach Goddard, and Clint Hayes ran a fourth place time of 1:38.03. The Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Clint Hayes, Sam Riggs, Bryan Fregeau, and Justin Beshore ran a fourth place time of 3:49.50.
Shelby Garrigus cleared 7' 6" to place fifth in the girls' pole vault. Kelsey Weis ran a fifth place time of 2:43.00 in the 800 meter run.
Tyler Machal ran a fifth place time of 5:14.51 in the boys' 1600 meter run. Christopher Zoog ran a fifth place time of 12:23.26 in the 3200 meter run.
The Vikings' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Paul Stark, Tyler Machal, and Hank Chrisman ran a fifth place time of 9:39.97. Jennifer Gorsage had a sixth place mark of 77' 6" in the girls' discus. Hannah Mills placed sixth in the long jump with a 12' 10" effort.
The Lady Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of Kayla Robinson, Bree Renner, Josie Riggs, and Alyson Chapman ran a sixth place time of 2:04.06. The Lady Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla Robinson, Bree Renner, Kelsey Weis, and Shelby Garrigus ran a sixth place time of 4:53.81.
Tyler Yahnig cleared 8' 0" to place sixth in the boys\' pole vault. Christian Carl had a sixth place mark of 38' 3" in the shot put.
Midway's varsity teams will travel to Kansas City on Friday, April 24, to participate in the Barstow Invitational. |
