JH LADY VIKES WIN BIG; JH VIKES A CLOSE SECOND

Midway's junior high Lady Vikings track and field squad took no prisoners winning nine of fifteen events to claim the 2009 Western Missouri Conference title. The JH Vikes were a close second in the boys' division.


The JH Lady Vikes scored 189 points to well outdistance second place Adrian's team total of 116 points. Archie was over one hundred points behind in third place with 88 points.


Drexel took the JH boys' team title with 126 points. Midway was second with 115 points, and Adrian was third with 110 points.


Kathleen Yoakum won the girls' 100 meter dash in a time of 13.86 seconds, and Kathleen won the 200 meter dash in a time of 28.54 seconds. Jessica Owens was also a double winner for the JH Lady Vikes. Jessica won the 1600 meter run in a time of 6:01.39, and she was first in the long jump with a mark of 12' 11 ½".


Mady Berkenpas won the girls' 75 meter hurdles in a time of 14.00 seconds. Miranda Dahman was first in the triple jump with a mark of 27' 8 ½". Destinee Sanchez was the conference champ in the shot put marking 28' 9 ¼".


The JH Lady Vikes' 4x100 meter relay team of Allie Hayes, Mady Berkenpas, Miranda Dahman, and Jessica Owens ran a first place time of 57.21 seconds. The JH Lady Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Jessica Owens, Mady Berkenpas, Kathleen Yoakum, and Cady Wright ran a first place time of 4:31.69.


Peyton Semsch was a double gold medalist for the JH Vikes. Peyton won the boys' 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 17.65 seconds, and he cleared 8' 0" to win the pole vault. Bobby Zielinski won the high jump by clearing 5' 2".


Cady Wright was second in the girls' 75 meter hurdles in a time of 14.54 seconds, and Cady cleared 6' 6" to place second in the pole vault. Miranda Dahman ran a second place time of 2:59.91 in the 800 meter run.


Kathleen Yoakum was second in the girls' shot put with a mark of 27' 11 ¾". Zoe Eberle cleared 4' 2" for a second place finish in the high jump, and Gabby Smith placed second in the discus with a toss of 60' 6".


Bobby Zielinski was second in the boys' 1600 meter run in a time of 5:19.81. Derald Jayson was second in the long jump with a mark of 16' 8".


Miranda Dahman cleared 4' 0" to place third in the girls' high jump. Zoe Eberle had a third place mark of 55' 8" in the discus. Cady Wright's time of 1:07.71 placed her third in the 400 meter dash.


Mason Irvin had a third place mark of 89' 3" in the boys' discus. Bobby Zielinski was third in the long jump with a mark of 16' 5 ½".

Allie Hayes was fourth in the girls' 200 meter dash in a time of 31.52 seconds, and Allie had a fourth place mark of 12' ¾" in the long jump. Mady Berkenpas was fourth in the pole vault clearing 6' 0".


The JH Lady Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of Meghan Everly, Zoe Eberle, Payton Mincks, and Destinee Sanchez ran a fourth place time of 2:08.12.


Christopher Bynum was fourth in the boys' 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 19.68 seconds. Bobby Zielinski had a fourth place time of 26.31 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Dylan Wise had a fourth place leap of 30' 6" in the triple jump.


All of the boys' relay teams ran fourth place finishes.


The JH Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of  Shane White, Mitchell Southard, Christopher Bynum, and Mitchell Robinson ran a fourth place time of 2:04.58 seconds. The quartet of Shane White, Mitchell Southard, Tyler Greer, and Mitchell Robinson ran a fourth place time of 58.17 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay. The 4x400 meter relay team of Dylan Wise, Shane White, Mitchell Southard, and Peyton Semsch ran a fourth place time of 4:28.48.


Destinee Sanchez was fifth in the girls' 800 meter run with a time of 3:06.80. Allie Hayes had a fifth place time of 15.09 seconds in the 100 meter dash.


Derald Jayson was fifth in the boys' 100 meter dash in a time of 13.21 seconds, and Derald was fifth in the pole vault clearing 6' 6". Dylan Wise had a fifth place time of 1:01.48 in the 400 meter dash, and Tyler Greer had a fifth place mark of 33' 1 ¾" in the shot put.


Shayla Madden had a sixth place mark of 25' 6 ½" in the girls' triple jump.


Peyton Semsch ran a sixth place time of 1:01.97 in the boys' 400 meter dash. Dylan Wise clocked a sixth place time of 27.59 seconds in the 200 meter dash.


Kaitlyn Chaffin ran a seventh place time of 7:05.50 in the girls' 1600 meter run.


Christopher Bynum was seventh in the boys' triple jump with a mark of 26' 10 ½". Joey Beller had a seventh place mark of 30' 11 ¾" in the shot put event.


Christian Cromer was eighth in the boys' discus with a toss of 75' 4".
