BOOSTER CLUB BANQUET

The Midway Athletics Booster Club hosted its annual end of the year banquet at Henderson Hall in Harrisonville on Wednesday May 21. Over two hundred athletes, coaches, parents, and friends attended the event. Booster Club president Caren Renner coordinated the event.

 

Coach Guy Berkenpas presented the volleyball awards. Senior Heather Messick got the team award for most heart. Senior Megan Carver received the leadership award. Senior Brianna Wright received the team first award.

 

The cheerleading awards were presented by cheerleading sponsor Beth Love. Senior Jessica Eads and junior Lesli Wright each received leadership awards. Senior Robyn Williams received the most improved award. Senior Jessica Lee received the most spirited award.

 

Coach Bryan Stahl presented the girls’ track & field awards. Senior Brianna Wright received the award for the most points scored by a female track athlete, and junior Shelby Garrigus received the award for the most points scored by a female athlete in field events. Junior Kelsey Weis received the girls’ team first award.

 

Coach Doug Carder presented the boys’ track & field awards. Junior Justin Beshore was the male point’s award winner for track events, and junior Sam Riggs was the male point’s award winner for field events. The boys’ track & field team first award went to senior Jacob Carver.

 

The cross country awards were presented by Coach Doug Carder. Junior Kelsey Weis received the girl’s number one runner award, and junior Clint Hayes received the boy’s number one runner award. Sophomore Leigh Anne Stark received the team first award. Junior Jacob Beaven received the most improved award.

 

Coach Larry Burchett presented the football awards. Seniors Michael Chouinard and Kyle Wise were named for the co-captain awards. Senior Brett Fregeau received the most valuable player award. Senior Jacob Carver received the hustle award, and senior Zach Fischer received the most improved player award.

 

The boys’ basketball awards were presented by Coach Larry Burchett. Seniors Michael Chouinard and Zach Fischer were named for the co-captain awards. Senior Michael Chouinard also received the rebounding award. Senior Mathew Miller received the free throw percentage award. Senior Zach Fischer received the award for the most assists and the most improved player award. Senior Michael Chouinard were named most valuable player.

 

Coach Chad Dean presented the girls’ basketball awards. Seniors Megan Carver, Lindsey Graham and Brianna Wright were named for the tri-captain awards. Senior Lindsey Graham received the rebounding award and the free throw percentage award. Senior Brianna Wright received the award for the most assists. Junior Shelby Garrigus received the hustle award.

 

Seniors Heather Messick and Stephen Buckman each received a Chris Richardson Sportsmanship Award. The MSHSAA Good Sport Awards went to juniors Kelsey Weis and Clint Hayes.

 

Seniors Megan Carver, Brianna Wright, Heather Messick, and Brett Fregeau received Cass Midway’s highest honor in athletics, the Viking 24/7 Award in honor of their participation in three sports per year all four years of his high school career.

 

Each senior was presented a gift card to culminate the evening’s awards.
