LADY VIKES WIN; KELSEY WEIS SETS RECORD
Cass Midway’s cross country contingent competed Thursday, October 4, at the Jayhawk-Linn Invitational. The meet was contested at the Sugar Valley Lakes Golf Course in Mound City, Kansas. The Lady Vikings captured the girls’ varsity team title with a score of 36. Jayhawk-Linn was second with a score of 39. Prairie View placed third with a team score of 49. Kelsey Weis set a course record by running a first place time of 16:23 on the challenging 4000 meter course. Sabrina Willey was fourth in a time of 16:37. Renae O’Keefe placed sixteenth in a time of 18:41. Leigh Anne Stark was eighteenth in a time of 18:47. Samantha Dever placed twenty-first in a time of 19:13. Osawatomie won the boys’ varsity division with a team score of 27. Central Heights placed second with a team score of 42. Yates Center placed third with a score of 70. Clint Hayes gave Midway a fifteenth place finish in the boys’ 5000 meter race with a time of 19:00. Taylor Didier ran a nineteenth place time of 19:21. Jacob Beaven placed twentieth in a time of 19:22. Three Vikings ran in the JV boys’ race. Sean Finney placed fifteenth in the boys’ 5000 meter JV race in a time of 21:10. Jacob Damron ran an eighteenth place time of 21:42. Adrian Carder placed nineteenth in a time of 21:43.
