Tuesday, March 25, Cass Midway’s track & field squads made the trek northward to the 2008 North Platte Panther Invitational. The thirteen team meet was held at North Platte High School in Dearborn, Missouri.

East Buchanan won the girls’ division with a team score of 125 ½ points. Cass Midway was fourth with a team score of 69 points. Orrick took the boys’ team title with a score of 110 points. Cass Midway was eighth with a team score of 46 points.

Brianna Wright was a double gold medalist for the Lady Vikings as she swept the hurdle events. Brianna won the 100 meter high hurdles in a time of 16.84 seconds, and placed first in the 300 meter low hurdles in a time of 50.44 seconds.

Bree Renner cleared 4’ 8” to win the girls’ high jump. Kelsey Weis had a first place finish for the Lady Vikes in the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:57.72.

Kelsey Weis was second in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:40.16.

Justin Beshore was second in the boys’ 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 16.81 seconds, and his time of 43.87 seconds placed him second in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Lane Hall was second in the shot put with a heave of 42’ 5”.

The Lady Vikes’ 4x400 meter relay team of Megan Carver, Bree Renner, Lesli Wright, and Brianna Wright ran a third place time of 4:41.52.

Brett Fregeau, Justin Beshore, Clint Hayes, and Jodie Whitcraft combined forces to give the Vikings a third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:50.59.

Shannon Carver placed fourth in the girls’ shot put event with a mark of 29’ 5”.

The Vikings’ 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Clint Hayes, Brett Fregeau, and Jodie Whitcraft ran a fourth place time of 1:40.48.

Sam Riggs placed fifth in the boys’ discus with a mark of 109’ 2”.

Jessica James placed sixth in the girls’ discus event with an effort of 84’ 9 ½”. The Lady Vikes’ 4x200 meter relay team of Megan Carver, Bree Renner, Lesli Wright, and Brianna Wright ran a sixth place time of 2:01.82.

The Vikings’ 4x100 meter relay team of Lane Hall, Jacob Carver, Sam Riggs, and Cody Foreman ran a sixth place time of 49.33 seconds.

Leigh Anne Stark was seventh in the girls’ 3200 meter run with a time of 14:41.92. Victoria Bynum ran a seventh place time of 1:10.93 in the 400 meter dash.

Christian Carl placed seventh in the boys’ discus with a mark of 103’ 11”.

The Vikings got an eighth place finish from Jodie Whitcraft in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.57 seconds. Sam Riggs was eighth in the shot put event with a mark of 37’ 4 ½”.

Friday, March 28 the Vikings and Lady Vikings visit Richmond, Kansas, for the Central Heights Invitational.

Next Week begins the home schedule for Midway’s track & field squads. The Midway Invitational is set for April 1, with the Midway Combo Meet set for April 3.
